- "Thor - Whats a conference whats a system?". My reply is thus...
-
- Hi Chris,
-
-
- CJS> Hi all,
-
- CJS> I am about to get connected at home with my Amiga. I just got all the
- CJS> THOR binaries off aminet, and am in the process of setting it up One
- CJS> major thing confuses me though:-
-
- CJS> Thor has settings for systems and conferences.
-
- CJS> is a system my Internet account (like, me.amiga.com)
-
- Yes
-
- CJS> and a conference - is this each particular newsgroup -
- CJS> like,
- CJS> alt.pave.the.earth
- CJS> comp.sys.amiga.emulations, etc...
-
- Yes
-
- CJS> So do I have to setup user infor for every single newsgroup I want to
- CJS> read
- CJS> (gulp)
-
- No, just set it in the system.
-
- CJS> Or is each system a newsgroup ??
-
- CJS> Sorry. I'm confused.
-
- CJS> And where's the new newsgroup for thor ?
-
- You have to get a list of active newsgroups from your ISP. To do this select
- "Get Conflist" from either the Dock window or the Event Commands menu item.
- This will create an event to get the newsgroup list from your ISP. Next time
- you logon and do a send events you will get the newsgroup list. Then you just
- hit Join from the Dock window or Join Conf from the Event Commands menu item.
- You will be presented with a list of all the newsgroups. Highlight the ones
- you want to join and the next time you logon and send events those groups will
- be joined. Then every time you logon and get news you will get all the new
- articles in those newsgroups. It takes longet to explain than actually do it.
- :<)
-
- CJS> Many thanks.

- Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough.
